Insects are an essential part to every turf grass area.  They can help get nutrients to the plants and help decrease thatch. However there is a difference between a few insects that are beneficial, and increasing amounts of insects that can become an infestation.  Insects can attack the plant in a few different ways, some targeting the roots causing the plants to show signs of drought stress due to the inability of the plant to transfer water and nutrients from the roots to the blades.   Insects also attack the foliage or blades of grass, causing them to turn yellow, then brown and eventually die.
